Stage challenge

On Friday 20 June Whangarei Girls’ High School took out first place with their performance Perfectly Imperfect in the Open Division at the Whangarei ASB 2014 Stage Challenge.

Whangarei Girls’ explored the controversial idea of designer babies and the contrast between two couple’s perceptions of the ‘perfect child’, inspired by society’s desire to genetically select traits hoping for the perfect outcome.

Our production involved 75 performers on the stage and 21 Year 13 students who developed and designed our performance.

We also won the following nine awards: Performance Skill, Soundtrack, Concept, Drama, Set,design& function, Choreography, Costuming Character, Health, Lifeskills & Creative Thinking and School Initiative.

The Event Manager, Sarah-Jane Phillips commented, “I couldn’t take my eyes off the stage! It was a wonderful performance excelling in dance, drama and design, making it a fantastic Stage Challenge performance!”
